Last Posting

This will be the last post of our blog....needless to say, this did not turn out like how we had hoped it would. We would like to thank all of you who have sent text/emails/cards/flowers/food.  Your kindness has meant so much to us and our husbands.

N & J came with me to our first Doctor's appointment on Monday, the 24th.  We were going to hear the heartbeat....but there was no heartbeat.  A sonogram confirmed our worst fears.  Because we were 16 weeks along, Dr. M said that the baby would need to be delivered.  We went straight to the hospital, where Cytotec was used to induce labor.  By Wednesday morning, it was obvious that the medicine was not working.  Dr. M released me in the hopes that if my mind and body were allowed to rest for a few days, that the medicine would work.  We went back into the hospital Sunday night, the 30th.  The medicine was increased and dispensed in 4 hour increments.  At approximately 11:15 pm on Monday, the 31st,  the baby was born.  He was beautiful and perfect, and very small.

There is no explanation, except that this was not meant to be....which some days gives very little comfort.  But we would never want this child to suffer, not one second, so at this point - that is explanation enough.  The nurses were very kind and went to great lengths in their compassion.  N & I were both given a box with a bracelet for the baby and a card with his footprints...I can not tell you the amount of comfort this has brought us both.  Every time we look upon these perfect little feet, we smile....and we know that we have truly looked upon the face of an Angel....

  1. Melissa, thank you for allowing us to go through this journey with you, your sister, and your family. I'm not sure what God's plan was with this baby and pregnancy, but I can tell you that this experience, this journey, has opened hearts and minds of others and has shown this world what real love looks like, as well as the bond formed between sisters. I admired you before, but I admire you much more as a result of yours and your sister's journey. Thank you again for allowing myself and others into your life to share the hopes, the joy, and the heartache with you. Many prayers to you and your family.
